Monday, January 16, 2012 At ReFind Originals we are always inspired by the trends we see around us. More than anything, I love to create something new, based on some of my favorite trends. I thought I would show you a few examples of some ways that we are working three of those trends: fur, feathers, and fringe, into our latest creations. Of course we continue to use the ever popular flower in many of our creations. Our flower wristlets and cuffs continue to be top sellers. As always, we use only recycled leather and fabrics in every single one of our one of a kind handbags and accessories. If you would like to take a better look at what has been pictured here be sure and take a look at ReFind Originals Facebook page (Please "Like" us if you haven't already). Also take a look in our Etsy shop to see, click and buy some of these items!

Sunday, October 30, 2011 I get this question all of the time. People want to know what is meant by "upcycled leather", or "repurposed leather". Whether you prefer to call it
recycled, reclaimed, upcycled, or preloved, it all means the same thing, really. At
ReFind Originals, we purchase leather garments, or upholstery leather that someone else is getting rid of. We buy old leather coats from thrift stores or individuals and make them into new items that will continue to have life and beauty for years to come. By using this old leather we are doing our part to "reduce, reuse, and recycle". We are continuing to think up new ways to use the leather we buy. We make beautiful, one of a kind handbags, then use the leftover pieces to create things like cute leather earrings and cuffs. Every piece is made here in my studio, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Here are a couple of examples of the thousands of items we have been able to create here in my little studio. You can see how we have used the features and pockets of two different jackets to create two completely different bags. These are one of kind, and just as practical as they are buttery soft and beautiful.

Thursday, September 08, 2011 I love the colors of Fall. I always look forward to going to my "wall of color" in my studio to begin selecting leather colors for this time of year. I've noticed that since I am using reclaimed leather that it is always easier to find Fall colors than Spring. I also love the rustic browns of bomber jackets, the more worn in the better! They just look fantastic with a beautiful rusty red flower or maybe a rich teal. I'm finding lots of great vintage buttons to use as embellishments too. This year I have also found several gray pieces, which seems to be a request from time to time. I have pictured here just a few of the Fall bags I have in my inventory at the moment (actually, minus one, as I just sold one today)!

Tuesday, August 16, 2011 This coming Saturday, August 20, we will be taking our latest handbags, earrings, cuffs, brooches, and headbands (Have I forgotten anything?) to one of our favorite art fairs of the season. WAMM Fest will be held at Craig Park in Greenwood, IN from 11am to 8pm. Over 6000 people showed up for this fun day last year, and we're looking for an even bigger crowd this year. WAMM stands for wine, art, music, and microbrews, not to mention that there are some pretty great food vendors lined up too! We've been working hard to begin our Fall line of flower wristlets and other bags in nice Fall colors. Of course, as usual, everything is made from reclaimed leather and other materials that we find along the way.
