Thursday, July 22, 2010 A few weeks ago I posted some pictures of some very lovely ladies who came to my studio for a sort of "field trip". They had a great time putting together some ideas for their own custom bags as they perused the many colors of leather flowers I had made from scraps of repurposed leather. Yesterday they came back to pick up the finished handbags. As always, I was a little bit nervous about whether they would like their bags, but apparently I got it right. Each one was delighted with her purse! I thought you might like to see a picture of what they dreamed up.
Monday, June 28, 2010 I've been working on several new bags. This is the latest shoulder bag in my series inspired by the pieces from a thrift shop belt. The first two bags ("Beach Baby Ocean Blue" and "Saluti da Roma") were done in bright colors. This one is done in a soft light gray and is graced by another cool metal piece from the belt with the word
Manhattan written on it
. I have also used a recycled zipper as an embellishment on the front as well as the back pocket, which closes with a toggle. The lining is a beautiful red, gray and black cotton that I picked up on a trip to Hawaii.This is the new "Manhattan" bag!
